Agents of the National Police have arrested a 54-year-old man of Peruvian origin in the city of Alicante, against whom there was an International Arrest Warrant issued by the authorities of Peru for fraud. The agents found out that the arrested man was being sought by Peruvian authorities after going to police stations to carry out procedures related to an investigation into a missing person. When the agents checked the person's identity in police databases, they found that he had an active International Arrest Warrant (IAW) issued by the authorities of Peru in force since March 2022 for fraud. The facts for which he was being sought were committed in the Peruvian city of Trujillo in 2008. The fugitive is accused of the alleged commission of a fraud crime after selling a property with the intention of deceiving third parties, for which he faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison. After the police procedures, the detainee has been made available to the Central Court of Instruction of the National Court in Madrid, the body in charge of the procedures for his subsequent extradition.
Peruvian Man Arrested in Spain on International Warrant
A 54-year-old Peruvian man was arrested in Alicante after he walked into a police station and was found to be wanted internationally for fraud. He has been handed over to the court for extradition proceedings to Peru.
