The Almonte City Council has issued a decree to regulate public services in the village during the last weekend of January, a period in which a large influx of pilgrims to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Rocío is expected. The decree includes measures for traffic control, as well as recommendations aimed at ensuring safety, respect for tradition, and coexistence in the locality.
During the mentioned period, parking is prohibited on all streets, service alleys, and squares of the village, as well as restricting the circulation of vehicles in the vicinity of the Sanctuary. To facilitate mobility, parking lots have been arranged on various streets and a rotating parking area has been established in the municipal sports center. Rules regarding the care of animals and the disposal of manure have also been set.
Regarding emergency and health services, it is detailed that the medical office will be open continuously during the weekend, while measures have been planned to ensure the access of emergency services and evacuation if necessary.
The decree also emphasizes the importance of keeping evacuation routes clear and respecting local traditions, such as the prohibition of dances and songs that are not of a traditional nature, among other rules. Attendees are reminded of the emergency number 112 and a call is made for all visitors to behave civically so that the pilgrimages continue to be an act of faith and devotion to the Virgin of Rocío.
