The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, praised the attitude of the Spanish citizens in the face of various adversities during his speech at the Círculo de Economía in Barcelona. He highlighted that Spain and Catalonia are extraordinary societies and thanked the population in general, with special recognition to entrepreneurs, workers, and public servants.
In response to Sánchez's words, the deputy and spokesperson for Vox in the Madrid City Council, Javier Ortega Smith, called the president a "fool" for his comments about Spain and Catalonia. Sánchez stated that no society in the world would have responded better than the Spanish one to adversities, highlighting the quick recovery of the electrical system after the recent blackout.
Regarding the blackout that affected the Iberian Peninsula, the President of the Government mentioned that they are working in collaboration with the operators to clarify what happened, emphasizing the importance of strengthening an already robust electrical system. He added that transparency is a key element in this process.
