Barcelona's midfielder Aitana Bonmatí, a three-time Ballon d'Or winner, will undergo surgery this Tuesday for a transverse fracture of the fibula in her left ankle. The Catalan club announced this yesterday. "The fracture is transverse, in the ankle area. The surgery will take place tomorrow," the club's statement read. It was previously reported that Bonmatí sustained the injury while playing for the Spanish national team.
