Portuguese right-back Joao Cancelo arrived in the Catalan capital on Monday to undergo a medical examination and sign a contract until the end of the season with Barcelona. The club has signed him on loan from Saudi Al-Hilal. The 31-year-old Cancelo said he is "very happy" to return to the "blaugrana" team, where he already played on loan from Manchester City in the 2023-24 season. He now returns to cover the long-term absence of Danish defender Andreas Christensen. The Portuguese international will undergo a medical check-up this afternoon and will be presented as a new Barça player on Tuesday after signing his new contract at the club's offices.
