Córdoba is preparing for the celebration of the XVIII Qurtuba Theater Showcase 2025, an event that highlights creativity and passion for the performing arts, promoting amateur theater as an important cultural and social engine.
In this edition, humor will take a prominent place with classical proposals that offer a fresh perspective on works that have endured over time for their relevance and brilliance. Among them are 'A Husband of Return' by Jardiel Poncela, performed by Cuarta Pared del Sur, as well as the amusing comedy 'Aunt Carlos' by Brandon Thomas, presented by the group Morfeo under the direction of Miguel Ariza.
The showcase, organized by the Federation of Amateur Theater Groups of Córdoba (Fegtaco) with the support of the City Council and the Teatro Avanti, will bring together eleven companies that will demonstrate the transformative power of theater, ranging from classics to contemporary adaptations and original proposals.
The Qurtuba 2025 programming will take place at the Teatro Avanti from January 31 to March 14 and will include works such as 'The Great Theater of the World' by Calderón, directed by Carmen Rey, and 'Female Plural Wave' directed by David García Intriago, which addresses issues of female empowerment and social challenges through humor.
Additionally, works such as 'Delivery Final,' a poetic tribute against gender violence presented by Triteatras Teatro, and 'After the Rain' by Sergi Belbel under the direction of Ana Vega, reflecting on human relationships and contemporary stress, performed by La Plaza de la Juventud. 'I threw it in the well,' 'You tell it, you have more grace,' 'What great bells!' and 'Kidnapping Stress' will also enrich the program with relevant themes and a touch of freshness and originality.
The Qurtuba 2025 theater showcase not only celebrates the performing arts but also values the effort and dedication of the participating companies, which seek to inspire, move, and connect with the audience through their performances, transitioning between classics and current proposals.
