International Women's Day March in Córdoba

A vibrant march took place in Córdoba for International Women's Day, featuring a women's batucada. The event highlighted demands for gender equality, rights for migrants, and an end to gender-based violence.

In Córdoba, the March 8 demonstration, called by the Assembly 8M, gathered a multitude of people who marched through the city streets in defense of women's rights. During the march, a drumming group composed of women brought a special activist energy to the event.

The route passed through different areas of the city, such as Paseo de la Victoria, Ronda de los Tejares, and Cruz Conde, where there was a moment of silence to respect individuals with autism spectrum disorder. The march culminated in the Plaza de las Tendillas, where a manifesto was read that remembered women victims of gender violence, making special mention of specific cases.

Among the demands raised during the demonstration are the fight against human trafficking, the need for a state care system, and the extension of maternity leave for childbirth, adoption, and foster care, as well as the compliance with the Dependency Law. There was also a call for the regularization of all migrants and an emphasis on the importance of the unity of the feminist movement to continue advancing in the achievement of rights.

Participants voiced their concerns against wage inequality, gender bias in the workplace, the precariousness of feminized jobs, and the eradication of sexual harassment and abuse, among other demands. Groups such as the Cota Cero association and African Women of Córdoba supported the march, raising awareness of various issues affecting women in society.

In the manifesto read during the demonstration, the importance of not medicalizing certain specific ailments of women was emphasized, and the right to gender self-determination was defended as a fundamental aspect of the fight for equality. The demonstrators also recalled statistical data that reflect the situation of inequality faced by many women in the province.

Despite adverse weather conditions, participation in the demonstration was notable, demonstrating the determination of Córdoba women in their struggle for equality. The day concluded with a call to continue striving for rights for all women, in a context marked by antifeminism and resistance to advances in equality.
