It will still be necessary to wait a few more months to see the new out-of-hospital emergency point in Córdoba at the Levante Sur health center operational. Bureaucratic problems and a lack of staff have conditioned the opening date of the Emergency Department at the Levante Sur health center. Work began in the first months of 2024, with a budget exceeding 920,000 euros for a project that was supposed to last four months, to adapt one of the buildings of the old Lepanto barracks, in the area facing Sagunto street, next to the health center of the same name. The new center will have an entrance with windbreaks from the end of this year. The one in the South Sector, next to Avenida de Cádiz, serves more than 82,000 people. At the out-of-hospital emergency point in Levante Sur, there will also be an administrative point for people who need medical attention. The Levante Sur center will be the third out-of-hospital emergency point to operate in Córdoba and will help to alleviate overcrowding in the other two points. Initially, the inauguration would arrive in autumn, but ABC has confirmed that it is delayed until the second half of January. The one at the Carlos Castilla del Pino health center, next to Arroyo del Moro avenue, serves a population close to 270,000 people, from the Center and the western area of Córdoba. It will be located on the grounds of the old Lepanto barracks and, although the construction is finished, its opening has been delayed as ABC has been able to confirm. They will start on January 1st. The manager of the Córdoba Guadalquivir Health District, Ana Leal, confirmed to ABC in July that the facilities are "practically finished", almost to the point of "starting to use it" due to the lack of human resources. They will receive patients who need care in a lobby and a waiting module. That is, hiring and transfers of personnel for its implementation. The 62 new positions allocated for the Córdoba Guadalquivir district will provide the center with more staff to put the emergency point into operation. There are key professionals in that service, such as a driver-usher, more nurses, and specialists.
