The Department of Health and Consumption has clarified that the deficiencies detected in the case of poisoning with montaditos with pringá in a tavern in Córdoba were associated with the processes followed on the day the outbreak occurred, in a context of tension due to the hygienic and handling conditions.
The investigation continues and the possibility of opening a sanctioning file is being evaluated, which could result in a fine ranging from 3,000 to 15,000 euros. Sources from the Department have explained that the unsanitary conditions were caused by the service of an event at another external location, an activity that has been indicated will not be repeated.
The food poisoning episode occurred in January in a tavern in the capital of Córdoba, resulting from the consumption of montaditos de pringá during a celebration, affecting 44 people and resulting in one fatality.
Facua-Consumers in Action has criticized that the General Directorate of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Regulation of the Junta de Andalucía confirmed serious deficiencies and possible health risks in inspections carried out a month ago at the Córdoba establishment. This, despite the fact that it was previously determined that the establishment met adequate conditions.
The association emphasizes the negligence of the health authority for not reporting cases of those poisoned in private hospitals and expects that responsibilities will be clarified in this regard.
