Dynamic Mariner/Flitex-25: NATO Naval Exercise in Spain

The naval exercise Dynamic Mariner/Flitex-25 will be held in Andalusia, highlighting the participation of the submarine S-81 Isaac Peral and the cooperation of 9 NATO countries.

The Dynamic Mariner/Flitex-25, the largest naval exercise in recent years that the Navy and NATO will deploy on the coast of Andalusia, will include the first participation of the submarine S-81 Isaac Peral in an international exercise. This exercise will take place on the southern Andalusian coast and the Gulf of Cádiz, with the participation of Germany, Croatia, Spain, the USA, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey.

The main objective of the exercise is to train allied navies to be prepared for the defense of Spain, its interests, security and well-being, as well as territorial integrity. The Navy's ability to command and control a Naval Force in a medium/high intensity scenario will be tested, projecting naval power and controlling the sea.

Dynamic Mariner/Flitex-25 will also certify the Spanish Maritime Forces Headquarters (SPMARFOR) as the Maritime Component Command (MCC) of NATO's Allied Reaction Forces (ARF). During the exercise, naval power projection, command and control, amphibious operations, anti-submarine warfare, cyber defense, and integration of advanced technologies and unmanned systems (UXV) from NATO and national sources will be tested.

The Army, Air and Space Force, Joint Cyber Command, and the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA) will participate in the exercise. This challenge for the Navy will evaluate its capability to operate in multinational and high-demand environments, marking a milestone in the modernization of the Submarine Force with the participation of the submarine S-81 Isaac Peral.

About 4,000 military personnel, 30 ships, two submarines, amphibious units, and air assets from nine NATO countries will take part in this significant naval exercise.
