Arturo Torró, former mayor of Gandía and businessman, was shot dead under circumstances that are still being investigated. Over the years, Torró had received death threats and graffiti at his home, which he reported, dating back to his time as mayor from 2011 to 2015; however, he had managed to resume his businesses despite this.
The last hours of Torró have become crucial to understanding what happened. Around 8 p.m., he had a phone call with a friend that was interrupted due to a flat tire on one of his car's wheels. His lifeless body was discovered by his wife around 10:30 p.m., a few meters from his vehicle, on the shoulder of the A-38 highway.
The Civil Guard continues to reconstruct the events, with no arrests made so far and considering various hypotheses, one of the strongest being the possibility of a premeditated crime with economic motives related to the problems Torró had been facing for some time. No signs of a struggle have been found in the inspected vehicle.
The case remains under a secrecy order, and images from nearby gas stations are being analyzed, as well as tracking the victim's mobile phone, trying to determine if someone was following him and caused the flat tire to force him to stop in a place with no visibility.
Meanwhile, the Homicide group is interrogating people in Arturo Torró's close circle to gather information that may be relevant to solving the case.
