The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has designed a plan to improve the accessibility and visit to the archaeological sites of El Tolmo de Minateda in Hellín and Libisosa in Lezuza, allocating an investment of around 984,000 euros. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Carmen Teresa Olmedo, explained that these actions are part of the Sustainable Tourism Plan for Parks and Archaeological Sites, financed with eight million euros by the Ministry.
"We believe that this could be the opportunity to make our sites more visitable and accessible," Olmedo pointed out. The initiative aims to strengthen cultural tourism in Castilla-La Mancha, especially in the Hellín region. Within the province of Albacete, 533,000 euros will be allocated to Tolmo de Minateda and about 491,000 euros to Libisosa, with actions focused on green transition, energy efficiency, digital transition, and competitiveness.
Regarding specific interventions, agro-food and artisan showcases, awnings, and green roofs will be installed at both sites. Improvements in energy efficiency will be carried out with solar panels for self-consumption and lighting renewal, along with solar beacons for nighttime visits. Charging points for electric mobility will be established and routes with signage will be created to access monuments in the area.
In the field of digital transition, a WIFI network, video surveillance, and Augmented Reality will be implemented. To increase competitiveness, a Network Development plan will be developed with promotional videos, digital screens, and virtual reality glasses. There will be an emphasis on improving physical, sensory, and cognitive accessibility to adapt the visit for all audiences.
In summary, more than 984,000 euros will be invested in the sites of El Tolmo de Minateda and Libisosa in Albacete to make them more accessible and attractive for visitors.
