In Lucena, the group 'Lucena for its Hospital' has called for a march under the slogan 'For Dignified Healthcare.' More than 300 people demonstrated in a slow march between Lucena and Cabra, demanding the construction of a new hospital in the area. The route began at the Manuel Lara Cantizani Municipal Auditorium and culminated at the land designated for the new hospital.
Javier Morales, spokesperson for the movement, highlighted the need for the Junta de Andalucía to fulfill its promises and prioritize healthcare in Lucena. During the march, the land where the hospital is planned to be built was visited, emphasizing the investment made by the residents of Lucena in this project.
The group expressed their concern for the Infanta Margarita Hospital in Cabra, stating that a center benefiting the entire southern region of Córdoba is necessary. Additionally, protests related to the delay in the relocation works of the physiotherapy unit at the Lucena II Health Center have begun.
Morales underscored the importance of unity in the fight against decisions by the Junta de Andalucía that go against the interests of Lucena. The march included representatives from various local political parties and a forthcoming protest was announced to continue pressuring for the hospital’s construction. In an optimistic atmosphere, the group will remain active in defending healthcare in the region.
