The Franciscans, custodians of the Holy Places, made a call on Thursday to "Let's return to the Holy Land," expressing their hope that the truce in the region will last. This declaration comes in a context where global tourism has shown signs of recovery, even surpassing pre-pandemic levels. It is expected that by 2025, the tourism sector will register record figures, reflecting a positive trend in this industry.

One of the current focuses in tourism is the development of rural and community tourism, which is the central theme of the X Ibero-American Tourism Meeting, scheduled to take place from September 29 to October 5 in Cuba. Tourism ministers from 22 countries of the Ibero-American community are expected to meet to promote the growth of this tourism modality.

During the recent edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2025, held in Madrid, a record participation of 155,000 professionals from the sector was highlighted, and a successful closure was projected with the attendance of 100,000 visitors during the weekend. María Valcarce, the event's director, described the balance as "very positive," stating that the established goals have been surpassed.

Community tourism was emphasized as a way to strengthen and energize the local economy, as well as to promote deep cultural exchange between visitors and residents. Josefina Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, highlighted the importance of tourists being able to closely experience the authenticity and warmth of local culture.

The fair transformed into a celebration open to the general public, offering a variety of activities such as live music, tastings, craft workshops, and contests. With more than 150 participating countries and an increase in the number of exhibiting companies compared to previous years, Fitur positions itself as one of the most important fairs worldwide in the tourism industry. Palestine was also represented at the event, underscoring the diversity and global reach of the fair.
