The Guanajuato delegation participated in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2025 in Madrid, Spain, seeking to promote the gastronomy and cultural identity of the state. Aimed at highlighting Guanajuato as a tourist and cultural reference, the best of its cuisine and traditions was presented to tour operators, business partners, and international media at one of the most important tourism events in the world.
In addition to showcasing the rich local gastronomy, Guanajuato demonstrated its ability to integrate into international markets with innovative proposals during FITUR. This program, supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Identity and led by Lupita Robles León, focuses not only on preserving the state's heritage foods but also on strengthening the economic and tourism value chain, providing opportunities for local producers and Guanajuato chefs.
During the event, attendees were able to taste a variety of dishes that told stories of generations and highlighted local ingredients such as huitlacoche, cajeta, and Tequila Corralejo. This initiative not only celebrated the culinary tradition of Guanajuato but also sought to establish strong commercial ties in the international market.
This participation in FITUR 2025 generated tangible benefits for Guanajuato, consolidating its connection with the world, increasing its visibility as a tourist destination, opening commercial opportunities for local entrepreneurs, creating jobs and economic benefits for Guanajuato families, and promoting heritage foods that are essential to the cultural identity of the region.
Guanajuato's gastronomy, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage, includes emblematic dishes such as guacamayitas leonesas, carnitas style Abasolo tacos, and cajeta tamalitos, which represent a culinary richness linked to global tourism and preserve ancestral techniques. The public policy "Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe!", driven by the local government, played a crucial role in the success of the presentation at FITUR.
