Madrid's City of Justice Construction Begins

Madrid has initiated the construction of the 'City of Justice' complex, uniting judicial bodies and saving 50 million euros in rent. The project features a massive park built over the M-30, with an investment of 78.9 million euros. Construction, running until 2027, has already increased local property prices by over 30%.

Construction on the major complex in Madrid has finally begun, 20 years after its first presentation and following several failed attempts. The project, known as the 'City of Justice', will unite various judicial institutions and save 50 million euros in rental costs. Parque Ventas will be a platform covering 16,379 square meters and 197 meters in length, spanning the M-30 ring road at the height of the Quinta de Fuente del Berro. It will connect the Salamanca and Ciudad Lineal districts and will feature pedestrian areas, green spaces with 960 new trees and over 48,800 shrubs, as well as children's playgrounds, calisthenics equipment, a small outdoor performance area, a kiosk, fountains, and benches. The City of Madrid states that the project's smooth progress will now mean traffic disruptions will only occur during nighttime hours. After the completion of 153 piles, the next phase is the nocturnal installation of 128 piles that will support the future roof. Each pile is 6.40 meters long and weighs approximately 22.9 tons. The works, with an investment of 78.9 million euros, will continue until the spring of 2027. Since the announcement of the city initiative, property prices in this area have increased by more than 30%. Authorities assure that residents will ultimately gain a great park at their doorsteps instead of a view of the highway. Meanwhile, it is expected that by the end of November, the placement of the first of the 96 crossbeams that will form the roof can begin.
