The Brazilian composer Miguel Ribeiro Teixeira has won the XI Fernando Rielo Sacred Music Prize. The announcement was made in Madrid, where the four finalist works were premiered. The prize was awarded for the work "De Charitatis", composed for mixed choir and chamber orchestra. The jury highlighted the "very difficult" decision due to the high quality of all the finalists. 36 composers from 10 countries participated in the competition. In addition to the winner's "De Charitatis", the works "Caritas" by Girolamo Deraco and "A la Caridad" by Matteo Magistrali were performed, and a special mention was given to the Argentine composer Alejandro Civilotti Carvalho for his piece "Charitas patiens est". The event concluded with a performance of the winning composition conducted by maestro Ignacio Yepes.
