Mercadillo del Gato Christmas Market Returns to Madrid

Madrid prepares for the Mercadillo del Gato Christmas market. From Dec 12 to Jan 6, Gran Vía will host 60 unique exhibitors offering crafts, art, and literature. Free entry.

Madrid is eagerly preparing for one of its most anticipated Christmas events: the Mercadillo del Gato, returning on Friday, December 12th, to the iconic venue at Gran Vía, 13. With over 3.5 million visitors and more than 3,000 brands, artists, and artisans participating, it has become a national benchmark. The essence of this market lies in the uniqueness of its 60 exhibitors, who offer select products in fashion, crafts, decoration, natural cosmetics, gourmet, and collectibles. Visitors will find a wide range of products, from author jewelry and handmade costume jewelry to children's fashion, luxury handbags, vintage dresses, and exclusive accessories like pashminas and individually crafted leather wallets. Literature will also take center stage, with a corner dedicated to artist's books, carefully edited classics, facsimiles, and children's books that look like authentic collector's albums. As is tradition, entry will be completely free. SOS Aldeas Infantiles will have a stand to raise funds to support children and young people in vulnerable situations. "There is no rush or impersonal shopping here: every object has a story, every piece is special," the organizers highlight. The market will be open from December 12th to January 6th, 2026, without interruption from 11:00 to 21:00 every day of the week, including holidays and weekends.
