New Interactive Memorial Center for Victims of Terrorism

A new center dedicated to the memory of terrorism victims will open in Madrid in 2026, featuring interactive programs for schools and historical exhibits.

The Community of Madrid will invest around one million euros in the creation of a new Memorial for Victims of Terrorism that will be open to the public in 2026. The center, announced by President Isabel Díaz Ayuso, aims to keep alive the memory of all victims of terrorism and promote democratic and ethical values.

The Memorial will have a permanent programming aimed at spreading the importance of preserving the memory of victims and preventing violence, especially among school children. It will focus on interactive activities and provide an immersive and technological experience for visitors.

The space will house significant objects, such as the drum played by Miguel Ángel Blanco or one of the skateboards belonging to Ignacio Echeverría. According to sources from the Department of the Presidency, the main goal of the center will be to dignify the memory of the victims and promote the defense of freedom and the fight against terrorism.

The content of the Memorial will be presented in augmented reality format, with explanatory panels, graphic exhibits, and audiovisuals. It is expected that this interactive center will complement the existing one at Atocha Station, offering visitors a meaningful experience of remembrance and tribute to the victims of terrorism.
