The alternative trio based in Madrid, Çantamarta, recently released their debut album 'Pasarela', which fuses alt-rock, Spanish guitars, dembow rhythms, and raw lyrics. This album pushes musical limits by combining festive and introspective elements with soundscapes that go beyond the streets of Spain.
Benito Casado, a member of the band, highlighted the ability to connect with people on an emotional level through music: "I think it's the greatest achievement an artist can have: to connect with people and evoke certain feelings within them." Çantamarta achieves this goal with tracks like "Motoriçado," inspired by salsa, "Los Jordan," driven by guitar, and the title track 'Pasarela,' which blends rap and indie rock.
Omar Roldán expressed that this album represents the essence of the sounds the band wants to explore, while Luis Angel Lozano added that they achieved a fusion of genres that initially seemed difficult to unite. 'Pasarela' is backed by Bad Bunny's label and marks a new stage in Çantamarta's alliance with Rimas Music.
Throughout the 10 tracks, the band balances festive vibes with raw emotions, merging upbeat pop with Caribbean rap. The album unfolds like a stroll through the city, reflecting the ups and downs of life through varied melodies and evocative lyrics.
Çantamarta revealed that the creation of this album took about three years, from the first demos to the final realization, with intense periods of focus and collaborations with other musicians and artists. The band described the experience as a long but valuable endeavor, which has been positively received by their followers.
Additionally, Çantamarta had a performance in Mexico, where they could share their music with an enthusiastic audience. The album 'Pasarela' stands out for its dynamic production, combining Spanish and Andean folk rhythms with Caribbean rap, R&B, dembow, and alt-rock, creating a polished yet raw and authentic work.
