Óscar López launched an extensive regional executive of the PSOE of Madrid, made up of almost fifty names and largely supported by the delegates at the XV regional Congress. However, the configuration of the executive revealed that the party is not as cohesive as expected with the new general secretary.
Among the members of the executive is the government delegate in Madrid, who will now hold the position of secretary of Institutional Relations. Some mayors like Ramón Jurado (Parla) and Ángel Viveros (Coslada) have been included, while others, like the mayor of San Fernando de Henares, who expressed their support for Lobato before the internal tensions, have been left out.
López appointed Pilar Sánchez Acera as number two and Francisco Martín, the government delegate, as third in the hierarchy. Sánchez Acera will assume the role of secretary of Organization, positioning her as López's right hand and with internal power in the party.
Regarding the election of the executive, López emphasized that it was a renewal to win Madrid in 2027, but internal criticism quickly emerged. Lorena Morales was appointed secretary of Equality and Cristina González took on Municipal Politics.
The general secretary rewarded those who confronted the Popular Party most fiercely, such as Pilar Sánchez Acera and Javier Guardiola. Significant changes were made in key areas like Housing and Universities, excluding the close circle of Lobato.
Despite the executive having the backing of local groups and territories, a greater integration of the party's internal currents is lacking. Approximately 30 percent of the delegates did not support the team formed by López, which questions the proclaimed unity.
Additionally, changes have been introduced in the executive, such as the replacement of leaders and the inclusion of new members, reflecting López's intention to strengthen the party in the face of future political challenges.
