The Popular Parliamentary Group in the Cortes of Castilla-La Mancha has requested the regional PSOE to support the free use of the R-5 for municipalities near Toledo close to the A-5 during the underground works of the A-5. The request arises due to the congestion and communication restrictions generated in this axis by the works.
The Minister of Development, Nacho Hernando, mentioned the importance of this measure in light of the daily problems faced by users of the A-5. The Parliamentary Group hopes that the Cortes will approve demanding the Government of Castilla-La Mancha to request the central Government to make the R-5 free for all affected users.
From the PP, they expressed their concern about the regional president's inaction in response to the demands of the residents. The president of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha met with mayors of affected Toledo municipalities, who consider the free use of the R-5 during the works vital. The parliamentary spokesperson for the PP, Carolina Agudo, highlighted the importance of the A-5 axis and the need for its economic development for the region.
The proposal is presented as a solution for the thousands of citizens who commute daily to Madrid from Castilla-La Mancha and who are affected by the works on the A-5. The lack of complete free use of the R-5, currently only available for buses, prevents users from accessing this alternative without paying tolls. The PP's request will be discussed in the regional Parliament through a Non-Legislative Proposal.
