Juan Carlos Monedero Suspended Amid Harassment Allegations

The Political Science Faculty of the Complutense University of Madrid announced that professor Juan Carlos Monedero will not teach until further notice due to sexual harassment allegations against him.

After reports of alleged sexual harassment were made public, the Dean's office of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology announced that Professor Juan Carlos Monedero will not be teaching classes until further notice. This decision was made due to the concern expressed by students and conveyed to the Complutense University of Madrid.

It is expected that the subjects taught by Monedero will be covered by a substitute professor starting next week, in order to ensure the continuity of academic activities in those groups. Affected students will be informed in a timely manner about the situation and the appointment of the replacement.

Moreover, it was noted that a confidential information proceeding was opened due to a complaint filed with the Equality Unit of UCM, whose resolution corresponds to the Rectorate. The Faculty emphasizes the importance of maintaining confidentiality in this process.

Despite the unease generated, the community of the Faculty reiterates its commitment to a safe academic environment free from misogynistic violence, as well as ensuring equal opportunities. Juan Carlos Monedero will temporarily cease his teaching duties at the Complutense University.
