The Government Delegation in Madrid yesterday announced the initiation of sanctions against the 'racist and anti-democratic' slogans voiced on Friday during the Falange march through the streets of Madrid under the slogan 'Against the 78 genocide: in defense of our nation and our people'. Throughout the march, demonstrators performed the fascist salute, carried pre-constitutional flags, and chanted songs glorifying the founder of the Falange, José Antonio Primo de Rivera, as well as other slogans such as 'this is the youth of Spain'; 'fatherland, justice, and revolution'; 'Up Spain' or 'national unity'. Likewise, the responsibilities that may arise under the Penal Code are being analyzed, particularly for possible hate crimes or threats, and the facts will be referred to the competent authorities if appropriate. It should be recalled that the demonstration was initially prohibited by the Government Delegation in Madrid itself, but after an appeal by Falange, the Madrid High Court of Justice (TSJM) ended up authorizing it on Friday. A march that brought together hundreds of people (about 700, according to the delegation). And as it passed the PSOE headquarters, shouts such as 'it's not a headquarters, it's a whorehouse' and 'Pedro Sánchez, son of a bitch' were heard. The study of possible fines for the organizers is covered by article 10 of the Democratic Memory Law, which prohibits and sanctions acts and expressions that glorify the dictatorship or incite hatred.
