The Community of Madrid is on the verge of approving new regional budgets for 2026, the third of this legislature with the absolute majority of Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The People's Party (PP) has flatly rejected all ideological amendments proposed by the Vox party. These included amendments demanding 'national priority' in public services over immigrants and the creation of a 'return ticket' for illegal immigrants. Vox presented a package of nearly a thousand amendments to the Ayuso government's budget, which is essentially a summary of their electoral program. Nevertheless, Ayuso's party accepted 22 amendments from the left and Vox, as well as 10 from the Socialists and five from 'Más Madrid', which are technical or minor in nature. At the same time, the PP rejected over 3,500 other proposals. The opposition did not miss the opportunity to criticize Ayuso for her absence on that day, while the regional government focused its attention on the Minister of Health, Mónica García, who is expected to run again for the regional presidency. In turn, Más Madrid spokeswoman Manuela Bergero stated that these budgets 'are bursting the public health system, Education and social cohesion in the Community of Madrid'. The budget, which will be finally approved on Friday, amounts to a record 30,663.6 million euros, 90% of which is earmarked for social spending.
