Political Turmoil in Spain Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Íñigo Errejón resigns amid serious allegations of sexual harassment. Actress Elisa Mouliaá claims to be a victim, escalating the political scandal in Spain.

The resignation of Íñigo Errejón as the parliamentary spokesperson for Sumar has shaken the Spanish political scene this Thursday. It occurs amid accusations of macho violence against the already former deputy of Yolanda Díaz's coalition. The anonymous testimony of a woman on journalist Cristina Fallarás's Instagram account has been the spark that ignited the controversy.

In that testimony, actress and presenter Elisa Mouliaá claimed to be a victim of sexual harassment by Errejón. Although the accusations were initially spread on social media, Mouliaá chose to go to the police station to file a formal complaint.

Errejón's resignation letter was published on his profile on X, where he mentioned errors he is proud of and others he hopes to help repair with his resignation. The Sumar coalition has launched an investigation into the accusations against the former deputy.

The scandal has generated reactions from various political sectors. The PP accuses Sumar of covering up for Errejón and demands explanations from Yolanda Díaz. The PSOE expressed concern and showed support for victims of macho violence in this context. Errejón, known for his political career and participation in the laSexta program 'Zapeando', has remained silent thus far regarding the accusations against him.
