Pablo Iglesias Confronts Gender Abuse Allegations Against Íñigo Errejón

Pablo Iglesias expressed his condemnation of gender abuse and criticized the handling of allegations against Íñigo Errejón. He emphasized the need for a safe environment for victims to come forward and discuss abuses.

The former president of the Government, Pablo Iglesias, has spoken out regarding the accusations of harassment and abuse against his former colleague Íñigo Errejón, admitting that he does not have a good opinion of him. Although they have not been in contact for more than five years, Iglesias expressed that he does not take pleasure in the situation Errejón is going through, whom he previously considered a friend.

In an interview, Iglesias firmly condemned behaviors that undermine equality and showed his support for women who suffer harassment. He also criticized President Pedro Sánchez for his message of support to his partner instead of prioritizing the victims.

The former leader of Podemos praised the courage of journalist Cristina Fallarás for providing a safe space for women to report situations they previously found difficult. Iglesias recalled the importance of the 'only yes is yes' law from the previous Ministry of Equality, which grants any woman the status of a victim without the need for a court ruling.

Regarding the accusations against Errejón, Iglesias dismissed having noticed sexist behaviors from his former colleague, although he remembered a message that circulated a year ago denouncing an assault by Errejón at a party in Castellón.

In this context, Iglesias reproached Sánchez for focusing more on supporting his partner Sumar on social media than on Errejón's victims. Iglesias stated that there were already rumors in Madrid about another report of sexist aggression involving the former parliamentary spokesperson. In an interview on TVE, Iglesias admitted that Errejón's abuses were known.
