Real Madrid player Gode Blindghem was suspended for two games by the Spanish football federation after he was sent off during the match against Osasuna, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The club is trying to appeal the decision so the player can participate in matches against Girona and Real Betis. Coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his opinion that the referee was mistaken; however, the disciplinary committee disagreed with this and issued a sanction for 'disrespect or contempt towards the referee.'
"The disciplinary committee decided to suspend me for two games, and I accept this, even though I do not agree. I ask for forgiveness from my teammates and the coaching staff. We move on," said Gode Blindghem regarding the incident.
