Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, world number one, won her third WTA 1,000 title in Madrid by defeating American Coco Gauff with a score of 6-3 and 7-6 (3) in a final that lasted one hour and 38 minutes.
Sabalenka, 26 years old, took the first set convincingly. In the second set, Gauff fought with determination, but Sabalenka managed to prevail in the tiebreak to confirm her victory in this prestigious tournament.
"I am very excited to have won this title in Madrid for the third time. It was a difficult match, Coco played at a very high level, but thanks to my concentration and my game, I was able to take the victory," Sabalenka stated after the match.
