Buenos Aires, Feb 24 (NA) -- Atlético de Madrid thrashed Club Brugge 4-1 at the Metropolitano and secured their qualification to the Champions League round of 16 after a demanding series that began with a 3-3 draw in Belgium. The team led by Diego Simeone resolved the tie with authority thanks to a hat-trick from Norwegian forward Alexander Sorloth and another from Johnny Cardoso, according to the Argentine News Agency. The Spanish side attempted to dominate from the start, although the first chance fell to the visitors with a move initiated by Christos Tzolis. When Brugge was playing at its best, the 1-0 arrived: Jan Oblak assisted from his goal and Sorloth finished after beating Brandon Mechele.
