Explosion at Rheinmetall Arms Factory Injures Six

As a result of an explosion that occurred at the munitions factory belonging to the subsidiary of the German weapon manufacturer Rheinmetall in the southeast of Spain, six people were injured. The incident happened in the chamber with munitions owned by the company Rheinmetall Expace in the Hafali-Bejo area in the Murcian region, Spanish emergency services reported yesterday, Thursday.

One of the injured received serious injuries, and the cause of the explosion has not been officially announced yet, as the company has not provided any statements. According to Spanish news agency Europa Press, citing local authorities, the injured men aged between 30 and 52 suffered head injuries, burns, smoke inhalation, and five of them were hospitalized for medical assistance.

Moreover, as a result of the explosion, there was a fire in the industrial zone, which spread over an area of two thousand square meters before it could be extinguished. According to a statement from the German arms manufacturer, Rheinmetall Expace is "a globally recognized producer of munitions and weapons," specializing in artillery shells, mortar shells, medium-caliber ammunition, and also military parts and rocket engines.

Fully owned by Rheinmetall, the company operates seven plants in Spain and the USA, supplying products to more than 60 countries worldwide.
