Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner (1st) concluded an exceptional year by winning the title at the ATP Finals, thus adding his eighth trophy of the season. Sinner swept through the tournament without dropping a set, defeating American Taylor Fritz (5th) in the final with a decisive 6-4 and 6-3 in one hour and 24 minutes of play. Throughout the year, in addition to the ATP Finals, Sinner was crowned champion at the Australian Open, US Open, the Masters 1000 events in Miami, Cincinnati, and Shanghai, and the ATP 500 events in Rotterdam and Halle.
At the ATP Finals, Sinner demonstrated his superiority by defeating Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, and Daniil Medvedev in the group stage, without losing a single set. In the semifinals, he crushed Casper Ruud with a strong 6-1 and 6-2. The victory at the ATP Finals will allow Fritz to finish the year ranked number 4 in the world, displacing Medvedev from that position.
Despite having completed his participation in ATP tournaments, Sinner still has to play in the Davis Cup Finals, an event that will mark the retirement of legendary Rafael Nadal, who is 38 years old and a winner of 22 Grand Slam titles. The Davis Cup will pit Italy, led by Sinner, against Argentina, captained by Guillermo Coria, in the quarter-finals.
Jannik Sinner once again demonstrated his dominance in world tennis by being crowned at the ATP Finals and ending the year as the number 1 in the ranking, with a significant lead over his closest pursuer, Alexander Zverev.
