The white mantle has covered several provinces of Castilla y León due to the drop in temperatures. Although it is not a widespread snowfall, low temperatures and the presence of snow are expected to continue this Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is forecasted as "the most adverse day" in terms of snow accumulation in the provinces of Soria, Ávila, Segovia, and Salamanca.
The State Meteorological Agency has issued yellow warnings for possible accumulations of up to five centimeters of snow in some areas. In Soria, the snow has affected traffic on roads such as the highways A-11 and A-15, with forecasts of accumulations of up to five centimeters in 24 hours. The city of Soria woke up covered in snow, fulfilling meteorological forecasts and allowing for winter activities such as sledding.
The warnings for snowfall will extend to the southeast of the Community, as well as to several points in the province of Burgos. Accumulations of up to 15 centimeters of snow are expected in some areas. The Carnival in Soria has been "disguised" in winter with a white blanket that has transformed the landscape. The cold and snow have once again made their presence felt in Castilla y León, reminding that winter is still ongoing before the arrival of spring.
As for the reservoirs of the Duero, they have experienced a significant increase in water during January. The recent storms have contributed a total of 658 cubic hectometers, raising the storage level to 72.5%, with a total of 5,510 cubic hectometers.
