Two Employees Fired from Primark in Tarragona

At the Primark store in Tarragona, two employees, Laura and Marta (fictitious names to protect their identity), were dismissed for a "breach of good faith in the contract." The incident occurred on December 15, 2022, when Laura bought incorrectly registered items by her supervisor, Marta, causing a considerable loss for the store.

According to the court, the employees breached the trust of the company by not notifying or paying the actual value of the products. Marta, the supervisor, canceled a transaction for 235 euros and partially scanned some products, while others were placed in bags without being checked out. Laura paid lower amounts for a larger number of items, and no transaction was recorded as an "employee purchase."

The ruling dismissed the employees' claim for damages and reinforced the rules regarding the loyalty that employees must maintain towards the company. Both were "caught" in a transaction with prices lower than they should have been. Laura attempted to challenge the dismissal, alleging a violation of her labor rights, but the court did not accept this request.

The incident has brought the case to the High Court of Justice of Catalonia. The Primark store in Tarragona has applied disciplinary dismissals for serious breach of good faith in the contract, sanctioning the employees for carrying out irregular transactions that caused losses to the company.
