Teruel Named Spain's Healthiest City

A ZAVA study reveals Teruel tops the list of Spain's healthiest cities with a score of 9.05 out of 10, thanks to its abundance of sports facilities, parks, and clean air.


According to a new study by ZAVA, the city of Teruel in Aragon is the healthiest city in Spain. It scored an impressive 9.05 out of 10. Teruel stands out for its high number of sports facilities and walking routes, as well as excellent air quality. The study found that the city has over 100 sports spaces per 10,000 inhabitants and nearly 70 walking routes, making it a paradise for fitness enthusiasts. Pollença in Mallorca took second place with a score of 8.99, distinguished by its numerous water spaces and clean air. Lugo and Orihuela tied for third place with a score of 8.89. The full top 10 list of the healthiest Spanish cities is: Teruel, Pollença, Lugo, Orihuela, Sant Celoni, Benavente, Guadalajara, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Los Barrios, and Jaén. Meanwhile, the study also showed that major cities like Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia ranked lower due to limited access to parks, gyms, and healthy food options.
