No new health centers planned in Toledo

Castilla-La Mancha's health minister explains that the decision not to expand health centers in Valparaíso and La Legua is technical and based on a health map review and resource allocation.

The Minister of Health of Castilla-La Mancha, Jesús Fernández Sanz, has stated that there are no plans to open health centers in the Toledo neighborhoods of Valparaíso or La Legua.

"It is a technical decision based on the review of the health map, but it is still under study. The professionals managing the health map will decide based on the health cards," the minister clarified when asked about the issue requested by the Toledo City Council last September.

According to Fernández Sanz, the decision is not based solely on territoriality, but also "on the resources needed to provide care using the health card. Primary care physicians do not have more than 1,750 health cards each, and in pediatrics, no more than 1,250."

"This is what we must comply with, and the review of the map has a lot to do with this, in addition to the isochrones (a criterion used to assess the time the population spends traveling to the health center), as well as the emergency points."
