The players of Ciudad Imperial Casa Álvarez were left without the possibility of being promoted to the second category of women's handball in Spain, where two teams from the region are already competing: BM Pozuelo and BM Bolaños. The team faced Lauko Ermuko Errotabarri in Ermua in the play-off.
The match had a first half in which Lauko showed superiority, taking the score to a disheartening 8-12 in favor of the Basque team. However, a reaction from Ciudad Imperial in the second half allowed them to position themselves with a hopeful 19-14 lead with eight minutes remaining. Despite this, nerves and responsibility weighed heavily on the players from Toledo, and the match ended in a 20-20 draw.
This tie left them very close to securing a spot in the final phase for promotion to the División de Honor Oro. In the first leg, the home team won 22-19, with top scorers Andrea Zulet, Cristina Sánchez, and María Llorca standing out. Adding to the three goals from the first leg, the total disadvantage for the Basque team was seven goals.
Ciudad Imperial had to fight against this disadvantage in the second leg in a packed Santa Bárbara pavilion in Toledo. Despite their efforts, the team was unable to overcome the previous knockout round and did not advance to the next phase of promotion. The return match will take place next week in Toledo.
