Man Dies During Police Subdual in Torremolinos

A 35-year-old man died in Torremolinos following a cardiac arrest during police detention for a suspected robbery. Police officers and medical staff attempted to resuscitate him.

A 35-year-old man died on Sunday in a commercial establishment in Torremolinos after suffering a cardiac arrest while being subdued by National Police officers. According to sources from the 112 Andalusia Emergency Service, an alert was received reporting a violent robbery at the establishment in question. However, the efforts were fruitless, and medical services could only certify his death at the same location. After the death was confirmed, the judicial protocol was activated, and the team, composed of the judge, the judicial officer, and the forensic doctor, went to the establishment to proceed with the body removal and initiate the corresponding investigations to clarify the exact causes of death. According to the official version provided by the National Police, once the ambulance services were activated due to the detainee's condition, the man suddenly went into cardiac arrest. Both the officers on the scene and the staff from the 061 Emergency Medical Services, who arrived after the police alert, performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on the man. The individual, suspected of a violent robbery, was in a state of great agitation and had been previously detained inside the establishment by the customers and business owners themselves. The events took place around 7:45 PM on Sunday in a mobile phone shop located on the central Hoyo street in the Malaga locality. Due to the aggressiveness and altered state of the suspect, it was necessary for several police units to intervene to try to subdue him and proceed with his arrest. It was during this intervention that the situation became critical. The alertant indicated that those present had managed to lock the store with the presumed thief inside to prevent his escape until the arrival of the security forces. Several National Police patrols immediately went to the scene. Upon arrival, the officers found an individual in an "advanced state of agitation," as detailed by sources from the Provincial Police Station.
