On Monday, Deportivo Alavés secured a dramatic 2-2 draw against Girona in a match corresponding to the 25th matchday of the Spanish League, held at the Mendizorroza Stadium. According to the Argentine News Agency, Argentine Lucas Boyé scored a brace for the home team, at 5 minutes into the first half and at 44' of the second half, while Vladyslav Vanat, at 31 minutes of the initial stage, and Viktor Tsygankov, at 28' of the second period, scored for the team coached by Míchel. With this result, the team led by Eduardo 'Chacho' Coudet, one of the possible replacements for Marcelo Gallardo after his recent resignation at River, reached the fourteenth position in the Spanish championship with 27 points. Girona, for its part, was in eleventh place with 30 points, prior to the crucial clash against Celta de Vigo (6th), scheduled for this Sunday at 17:00. In the early moments of the match, the albiceleste attacker from River pushed a ball into the back of the net and opened the scoring for Alavés. However, the visitors equalized through the Ukrainian Vanat, who appeared alone on the left post to deflect a header from Alex Witsel towards the goal. In the second half, Girona managed to turn the game around with a great goal from Tsygankov, who received a precise pass from Azzedine Ounahi, dribbled past goalkeeper Antonio Sivera and shot without opposition.
