In the province of Zamora, this year the implementation of the Honey Guarantee Brand of Zamora is being celebrated, the first in Castilla and León. Javier Faúndez, president of the Zamora Provincial Council, highlighted the importance of this news. Faúndez also emphasized that Meliza has become a prominent event in Iberian beekeeping and the second largest in Europe, during the inauguration of the fair at the Ifeza fairgrounds.
In this edition of Meliza, significant participation has been recorded with around 400 congress attendees and 111 exhibitors at the VI International Beekeeping Fair of Zamora. The event has the support of His Majesty, the King, who assumed the Honorary Presidency, alongside the XII National Beekeeping Congress. María González Corral, Councilor for Agriculture, emphasized the importance of the guarantee brand 'Honey of Zamora' to promote and differentiate the honey produced in the region.
The certification of this brand guarantees the authenticity and quality of Zamora honey, which includes varieties such as forest, meadow, lavender honeys and monofloral honeys of heather or chestnut, among others. On this occasion, the Meliza fair has surpassed the number of exhibitors with 111 participants and 152 stands, marking a significant growth compared to the previous year.
The event is not only an important fair for the beekeeping sector, but it also hosts the XII National Beekeeping Congress for the first time in the province. With these initiatives, the aim is to strengthen consumer confidence and position Zamora honey in the markets. The fair, although mainly aimed at professionals, is also open to the general public, offering an opportunity to learn about and enjoy the world of beekeeping.
