Spanish airline Iberia will temporarily suspend its direct flights to Cuba from June due to the situation in the country, which has been ongoing for several months and has significantly affected demand, sources from the airline told EFE. However, Iberia continues to sell flights starting from November, when the company plans to resume the route, provided conditions allow. In April, Iberia will operate three weekly frequencies between Madrid and Cuba, and in May it will reduce its schedule to two weekly flights. From June, direct operations on this route will be temporarily suspended. During this suspension, Iberia customers can travel to Panama and from there continue their journey to Cuba thanks to the codeshare agreement with Copa Airlines. Iberia's offices in Havana will remain open to assist customers. Since February 9, operations have already been affected by the conditions on the island, and since then, aircraft have made a technical stop in Santo Domingo to refuel on return flights to Madrid due to the fuel shortage on the island. The temporary suspension exclusively affects Cuba due to its exceptional situation.
