The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, announced that in the European country, access to social networks will be prohibited for persons under 16 years of age. He made the announcement during the plenary session of the World Governments Summit, taking place in Dubai. Furthermore, Sánchez indicated that measures will be adopted to increase control over digital platforms, and their executives will be held accountable, according to international media accessed by the Argentine News Agency. He also pointed out that the manipulation of algorithms and the amplification of illegal content will be classified as a crime, and the ways to investigate possible legal violations by Grok, TikTok, and Instagram will be studied together with the Prosecutor's Office. The Spanish official also announced the creation of a tracking, quantification, and traceability system that will allow establishing what he called "a footprint of hate and polarization." Sánchez stated that Spain has joined five European countries in the 'Coalition of the Digitally Willing' to advance in a coordinated and effective manner in the implementation of stricter, faster, and more effective regulation of social platforms.

"Social networks have become a failed state, a place where laws are ignored, where crimes are tolerated, and where disinformation is worth more than the truth, and half of the users suffer hate attacks," he affirmed.
