
Czech tennis player Tomas Machac won his first title as a professional by defeating Spanish player Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the final of the ATP 500 in Acapulco. Machac, 24 years old, beat his opponent with a score of 7-6(6) and 6-4 after one hour and 37 minutes of play. With this victory, Machac enters the top 20 of the rankings.
During the tournament, Machac overcame several opponents, including his compatriot Jakub Mensik, German Daniel Altmaier, and Americans Learner Tien and Brandon Nakashima. He only dropped sets against the latter player on his way to the final. Thanks to his performance, Machac will return to the top 10 of the ATP rankings, occupying the ninth position.
In the final, Machac showed solidity in his serve, giving Davidovich Fokina only one break point opportunity, which was not taken by his opponent. Additionally, he hit 11 aces during the match. As for Davidovich Fokina, despite his remarkable year reaching the final in Acapulco, he has still not achieved his first title as a professional.
In another sporting event, Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed his first title in an ATP 500 tournament by defeating Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Dubai final with a score of 6-3 and 6-3. Tsitsipas broke a streak of 11 lost finals in tournaments of this category, thus achieving an important milestone in his sports career.
