Former Spanish international striker Alvaro Negredo announced his retirement from football at the age of 39 on Thursday, marking the end of his professional career.

Spanish striker and former Valencia player Álvaro Negredo announced on Thursday his retirement from professional football at the age of 39.

Negredo started his career at Selt, and then played for clubs such as Alaves, Real Madrid, Valencia, and Manchester City. He also spent several seasons in the Chinese Super League.

He won La Liga and the Copa del Rey with Real Madrid, as well as three European Cups with Valencia. His most successful season came in 2011/2012 when he scored 25 goals for Valencia in La Liga.

Negredo is also known for his involvement with the Spanish national team. He made his debut for the national team in 2009 and during that period, he played 21 matches, scoring 10 goals. His last game for the national team was in 2013.
