Lamine Yamal Cut from National Squad Over Unauthorized Treatment

Spanish forward Lamine Yamal was at the center of a controversy after being cut from the national squad due to an unauthorized treatment, meaning he will miss the two European Qualifier matches.

The news was reported by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), which, in a statement, expressed its "surprise and dismay upon learning at 1:47 PM on Monday, November 10th, the day of the national team's official gathering, that the player Lamine Yamal had undergone an invasive radiofrequency procedure that morning to treat his pubic discomfort".

Regarding the procedure, the RFEF clarified that "it was carried out without prior communication to the team's medical staff, with knowledge of the details only coming from a report received at 10:40 PM last night, which recommends 7-10 days of rest".

"Faced with this situation, and prioritizing at all times the health, safety, and well-being of the player, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has decided to release the athlete from the current call-up," the statement continued.

Finally, they stated: "We trust that he can evolve favorably and we wish him a speedy and full recovery".

Pubic problems have been a real headache for Yamal this season, as he missed several matches due to an injury in that area.

During this double-header of European Qualifiers, Spain's national team will visit Georgia and then host Turkey, aiming to secure the necessary results to clinch first place in Group E, which would grant them qualification for the 2026 World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
