Carlos Alcaraz Confirms Laver Cup Participation

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz (1st) has confirmed his participation in the next edition of the Laver Cup, one of the most prestigious exhibition tournaments in world tennis. This will be his third consecutive appearance in the tournament, which pits a select group of European players, including Alcaraz, against a team from the rest of the world. Additionally, according to the Argentine News Agency, the world team has announced the participation of player Taylor Fritz (6th), who will be competing in the event for the sixth time. With the 2025 season recently concluded, in which Carlos Alcaraz managed to return to the top of the world rankings to end the year as number one for the second time, the 22-year-old Spaniard has confirmed he will play in the upcoming Laver Cup. This will be his third appearance in the exhibition tournament, which will be held at the O2 Arena in London, England, from September 25 to 27. In his past participations, in 2024 and 2025, 'Charly' played a total of four matches in a round-robin format, similar to a group stage in other sports, and secured three wins and one loss. In his first appearance, he had a perfect record, defeating Ben Shelton 6-4, 6-4 and Taylor Fritz 6-2, 7-5, while in his second call-up, he was defeated by the latter but beat Argentine Francisco CerĂșndolo, whose participation for the following year has not yet been confirmed. The Spaniard's confirmation comes in a strange context: although he usually complains about the lack of rest between tournaments that he and other tennis players suffer from, and even had to withdraw from the next Davis Cup due to a right hamstring injury, he will make room in his schedule after the US Open to play in the Laver Cup. Meanwhile, Fritz is a regular representative of the rest of the world team in the aforementioned tournament. Among his victories is one against Alcaraz himself last year 6-3, 6-2, and two against German Alexander Zverev in 2024 and 2025. In a team that will be captained by American Andre Agassi for the second consecutive year, a former world number one and eight-time Grand Slam champion, the rest of the world team will look to build on last year's performance to become back-to-back champions. Individually, in his five appearances, Fritz played eight matches, with six wins and two losses.
