He added: "Real Madrid had placed Konate's name on a shortlist to strengthen their defensive line and there was confidence in his abilities, but his decline in form this season made the Spanish team cancel the deal." He confirmed that Liverpool is in contact with the player to secure his future and negotiations are ongoing, but no final decision has been made yet. Liverpool is currently experiencing a significant downturn in results, suffering three consecutive defeats in its last three matches against Manchester City and Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League, and against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.
