Spanish Aitana Bonmatí and French Ousmane Dembélé win The Best FIFA awards

Spanish Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmatí and PSG forward Ousmane Dembélé were named FIFA's best players of 2025 at a ceremony in Doha. Bonmatí became the first to win The Best three times in a row, while Dembélé succeeded Vinícius Jr. as the men's winner.

Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmatí, a midfielder for Barcelona and the Spain national team, was awarded The Best 2025 prize by FIFA for the best player of the year at a ceremony held in Doha on Tuesday. Aitana Bonmatí, the first player to win three consecutive Ballon d'Or awards, is also the first to be named The Best three years in a row. She won these awards following two by her teammate Alexia Putellas in 2021 and 2022. The 27-year-old Aitana shone and was instrumental in Barcelona's absolute dominance in Spanish football and their journey to the Champions League final, which they lost to Arsenal. She also contributed to Spain's runner-up finish at the last European Championship. French Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé was awarded The Best FIFA Men's Player 2025 at a ceremony in Doha on Monday. In a pre-recorded message, appearing with a crutch on his left hand due to a fibula fracture suffered in training with the Spain national team, he thanked for the award and congratulated the other winners. The 28-year-old from Vernon, a former Barcelona player, replaces Real Madrid's Vinícius Jr. in the award's history. In the prize's classification, Aitana Bonmatí finished ahead of her teammate Alexia Putellas and Spanish international Mariona Caldentey, an Arsenal player and former Barcelona teammate.
