Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal, after receiving the 2025 Leyenda Award, spoke in Buenos Aires about his new life after retirement. In the interview with the Spanish media "As" he said that tennis is a closed phase and that he now enjoys his everyday life outside the court, although he keeps the possibility of a tour with Roger Federer. During the talk he compared young players Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, noting that he does not identify with either style. He also revealed that, although his physique and mind are fit, he has no immediate plans to return to competition.
"It is a stage that is already closed… I don't live my day‑to‑day thinking about tennis, beyond occasional moments or those I feel like watching something, or, evidently, through the Academy, where I live it a bit more in the day‑to‑day, but from a completely different point."
"Now the physique gives what it gives, and I think the mind also does."
"Why not? There comes a moment when you stop the routine, which you can't re‑open. There are no closed doors to pick up a racket again, but you need to prepare consciously."
