Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo (27) of Barcelona has revealed he spoke to England's Phil Foden after a tackle that injured the Manchester City star's left ankle. The incident sparked the anger of England's manager Thomas Tuchel during the friendly match at Wembley Stadium.
Araujo stated that his actions were within the rules. "I wanted the ball, and the referee and VAR room knew that too," he said.
Foden left the pitch in pain, assisted by the medical staff, after the dangerous challenge. However, Araujo admitted that his tackle was strong but denied any intent. "It was a strong challenge, but I was aiming for the ball, not Foden. I spoke with him after the match and even sent him a message," the Uruguayan added.
